Hall & Woodhouse

1 Old King St, Bath BA1 2JW, UK – 01225 469259

Very very impressed with the food here. The interior décor is impressive and staff were very attentive. We had an evening here as a group of 11. All who attended were equally impressed. Prices are very fair too. Definitely a recommendation from me.

Oh wow, what has happened?! We have been coming religiously here since it opened for our day trips to Bath and have always had a fantastic experience, so what a let down our most recent visit was. Firstly, having booked our table several weeks in advance, we were presented with a lunch menu, not the usual menu. We were informed this was due to the build up to Christmas, so there were no starters available. They offered to do us a breadboard as a starter - this was a selection of rubbery, unpalatable bread with some balsamic. Nevermind, we had our cocktails. Almost in the same breath as presenting us with the breadboard our main course arrived. The waitress did offer to 'put them on the hot plate for a bit' - not ideal really although perhaps I should be commending them for their quick service - but we didn't relish the thought of a dried out warmed burger so took them. We then hardly saw a member of staff, trying to identify one to order drinks, and having saw fit not to leave a tip on this basis were faced with the surly comments of one of the waitresses which is really what made up my mind to post this review. It's such a shame and I hope this was just the outcome of a busy pre-Christmas saturday and not the result of a change for good.

The Barley Mow

32 Bathwick St, Bath BA2 6NZ, UK – 01225 464845

Friendly pub with lots of different events. Has pool teams and darts teams. Food is nice. Drink choice is good as well.

A really nice 'old style' inner city local pub. On the Cask-Marque Ale trail with some justification, the Otter this day was perfect and the warm Scotch Eggs are worth investigating, very spicy. Watched the England/Australia rugtby game, in a not crowded bar. Friendly locals and land-lord. Worth a visit

The Salamander

3 John St, Bath BA1 2JL, UK – 01225 428889

Great traditional pub, fun staff and of course the beer is wonderful (it's owned by the local brewery).

Nice quaint pub with good service. Good choice of own brand drinks. Food there is really nice. Not the biggest of pubs.

Peking Chinese

1-2 New St, Bath BA1 2AF, UK – 01225 466377

Absolutely fabulous. Fantastic food and portions and impeccable service.

Great service and great food amazing

Thai Balcony Restaurant

1 Seven Dials, Saw Close, Bath BA1 1EN, UK – 01225 444450

Superb genuine Thai food at a beautiful restaurant. Excellent service from the staff who all wear traditional Thai clothing and a menu full of delicious Thai cuisine. We always try to visit when we're in Bath.

Great Thai food in a lovely atmospheric environment. The staff wear traditional Thai dresses. The food was superb. It is not a bargain night out but worth it on occasion. The waitress was friendly and helpful and seem to have time for us although the restaurant was full. We never felt we were being rushed. We will definitely be back when we visit Bath again.

Sotto Sotto

10 N Parade, Bath BA2 4AL, UK – 01225 330236

Best restaurant in the world Food 10/10- high quality simple food done very well Staff 10/10 amazing staff that make you feel welcome and are very attentive Prices 10/10 We ate like kings for a very modest fee. Half of what I expected. All restaurants in the UK could learn from them. They put the lemon you get with your meal in a net to prevent seeds getting on your plate- amazing. Verona is terrible!

Superb venue, wonderful staff !! Menu choices are excellent and varied. Food was second to none, thoroughly enjoyed my visit, will return. Recommend to anyone.

Chinese Restaurants serving the Bath area

Peking Chinese

1-2 New St, Bath BA1 2AF, UK – 01225 466377

Great service and great food amazing

Hon Fusion Chinese Restaurant

25 Widcombe Parade, Bath BA2 4LD, UK – 01225 446020

Ordered a delivery: pork and mixed veg & Szechuan Chicken. The portions were good. Food was fresh and piping hot. Although the chicken was a little too tenderised... All really tasty though. I'll definitely revisit.

Fantastic restaurant located very close to the city centre. Food was of excellent quality and very delicious. Staffs were very friendly and the price's very reasonable too!! Lovely meal overall and will definitely come back again. Recommended if you are looking for a great Chinese restaurant in Bath.

Cheong Sing Chinese Takeaway

26 Moorland Rd, Bath BA2 3PW, UK – 01225 337117

I'm staying at a local hotel and fancied takeaway. Stumbled upon this Chinese and although some reviews suggested delayed delivery, other reviews mention quality food so being that it's a Tuesday I thought I'd try them. I ordered and payed online through their website which was simple, and placed and order. Food arrived (as per their text confirmation) within the hour and food was honestly amazing. I'm not a fan of rice so ordered 3 mains. Duck in plum sauce which was filled with beautiful duck cooked perfectly. Crispy chicken in honey & chilli which I'd give a 6 out of 10 for flavour and the final dish was the Thai chow mein which was also an exceptionally tasty dish. Next time I'm in town I will certainly be ordering from you guys again - thank you!

Ignore other bad comments! This is the best Chinese takeaway in Bath. Delivery can be varies but they are sometimes super quick if you live nearby, and the food is consistently brilliant! I live on the same road with two other Chinese places but still prefer to order from Cheong Sing even though it's a bit further. Would recommend to everyone!

Indian Restaurants and takeaways in or near Bath

Indian Temptation

9-10 High St, Bath BA1 5AQ, UK – 01225 464631

My partner and I are vegan, when we called to make a reservation they called us shortly after to confirm to us that it was a vegetarian restaurant which would have been really helpful if were unsuspecting meat eaters. The restaurant has a beautiful interior and outside view. The staff were friendly and never leaving us too long to order or have a drink top up. The food was delicious (vegan menu) and at a reasonable price. Would definitely visit again next time we are in Bath.

One of the best Indian restaurants I have been to in the UK - and I have been to a lot! Delicious food with authentic flavours, not too heavy, really friendly people and good value - I was excited to discover Indian Temptation and have been just as excited to keep returning ever since!

The Eastern Eye

8A Quiet St, Bath BA1 2JS, UK – 01225 422323

They served us long after everyone else had closed with no complaints and stayed open until we had left. Excellent food, fantastic venue, superb service and well priced. Would thoroughly recommend.

Really nice meal here. Group of 7 of us, service was prompt and efficient, without being rushed. It has a more varied menu than many places, so a few different choices which is a real positive.

Chaiwalla Indian Street Food

42 Monmouth St, Bath BA1, UK – 07926 041588

Vegan friendly and vegetarian friendly authentic dishes. I'm not even a vegetarian but I really like the food they make. How come I tried it? Friends from work are vegan/vegetarian and I have seen that what they ordered looked interesting, smelled nice and people queue up for this place. I tried it and I wasn't disappointed. Great service, nice friendly staff, reasonable prices for home cooked food.

Street food at it's finest. Simple menu. Great food. And cheap. We had the onion bhaji wrap and it was awesome. Samosa was good too. Would definitely eat again if I cost bath.

Italian Pasta and Pizza Restaurants

Nonna's Italian Restaurant

39 Gay St, Bath BA1 2NT, UK – 01225 427919

Went a few years ago but still remember it well. Good authentic Italian wine and food, with a good atmosphere. Good for a quiet evening meal.right in the centre. Just returned & is still good for a quiet meal( although it was a Monday). The antipasti of meat was really good and the Italian wine was ok. Pasta however was not that great. Good location as just out of the 'busy' area.

The sharing platter was lovely. Main courses less good. Seafood pasta was abit too creamy. Chicken in wine sauce was average. Pizzas were fine but nothing special. The ladies toilet is next to outside entrance and is freezing.

The Real Italian Pizza Co

16 York St, Bath BA1 1NG, UK – 01225 330121

One of the best pizza's I've ever had. We are regulars. Location is tucked away in a side street so it's not overly busy which is nice. Nice seating area outside and inside. Open kitchen with chefs is slightly distracting especially when they stare at you whilst you eat.

A great pizza restaurant right in the heart of Bath.  Although it appears small from the front there is a large dining area up on the first floor and a nice walled terrace area at the back which can be quite a sun-trap in the summer.  The pizzas are all freshly made and there is quite a choice on the menu plus a good selection of wines to choose from.  The staff are friendly and helpful.  They also do children’s birthday parties which are brilliant, the kids get to decorate a couple of cupcakes before making pizzas (almost) from scratch.  The chef comes and shows them how to knead the base then apply the toppings, once complete the kids take their pizzas down to the kitchen where the food is placed into the pizza oven.  After a short while the pizzas are brought back up and the kids tuck into them!  This is followed by ice cream (as its sister business The Real Italian Ice Cream Company is next door), finally the kids all get a goodie bag and any remaining pizza in take-way boxes.  A really well organized and good value for money party, highly recommended.

Jamie’s Italian

10 Milsom St, Bath BA1 1BZ, UK – 01225 432340

Awesome place to eat with incredible good and amazing staff

The food and atmosphere here are incredibly amazing. The staff are always lovely. The penne arribiata is fantastic, and the brownie is to die for!

Vegetarian or Vegan Restaurants

Acorn Vegetarian Kitchen

2 North Parade Passage, Bath BA1 1NX, UK – 01225 446059

Delicious Inventive Food. Such a cute little restaurant in a great central location. The food was amazing!! Every course was delicious and beautifully presented, we also decided to treat ourselves to the wine pairing and it was well worth the extra. All in all one of the best restraunts I have been to for ages, I would recommend it to anyone. 🌟🌟🌟

Being a vegan it's not always easy to find a place with good variety of quality vegan food. However this place was an excellent in all possible ways. Great selection of vegan and vegetarian dishes, nice and willing staff and beautiful atmosphere. Just Fantastic. Well a bit pricey, but worth every penny.

Wagamama Bath

York Buildings, 1 George St, Bath BA1 2EB, UK – 01225 337314

Good food, served quickly, ideal for busy days.

Pretty standard wagamama. Modern and efficient service. If you like other wagamama restaurants, you'll probably like this one...

Curry Mahal

31, Belvedere, Lansdown Road, Bath BA1 5HR, UK – 01225 789666

Always friendly staff and nice place for a quiet night out

We have tried pretty much every curry house in bath over the years. And the curry mahal wins hands down. Service is good. And food is always really tasty and good portions. Would highly recommend it if you either live in bath or just visiting.

Wine Bars and Cocktail Bars

Vino Vino Wine & Cocktail Bar

5-6 Saw Cl, Bath BA1 1EN, UK – 01225 312341

Decent small cocktail bar. Great bar man. Great drinks. Not the best seating.

Nice wine bar with a good range of cocktails. Food is only ‘nibbles’ so a shame that I couldn’t have a meal while there. From what I could see the food on offer was lovely. Staff attentive and polite. I would recommend for a pre-evening drink.

All Bar One

11/12 High St, Bath BA1 5AQ, UK – 01225 334614

Been here many times over the years. Always busy. Last year had tapas on the Monday, saw the ad for Tapas Tuesdays& went back the next evening👍😀 good atmosphere. Food always been good & staff very helpful considering it's. busy City centre establishment. Popped in for a glass of wine the other evening, had a relaxing hour. Good atmosphere. Got the drinks myself, as always easier here with the limited staffing. Very pleased tapas Tuesday is still on. Perfect end to the day & really nice with the Christmas market outside.Considering how busy had very fast service of food, and excellent member of staff. Shame I don't live nearby. Definitely one of the best in the group.

Nice modern pub. Popular with mixed ages. Busy on the day we popped in.

The Canary Gin Bar

3 Queen St, Bath BA1 1HE, UK – 01225 462457

Great place to go. Staff are amazing and give great tips on what drink suits you best. Definitely worth a visit.

This is such a popular bar that you might struggle to find a seat, but its popularity is the only downfall! Atmosphere is great, cocktails stunning and the bar staff are well informed.
